In the The Talisman Series by author Brett Salter, "The Search For Synergy" is the first book. As I started reading the book I was amazed knowing what's happening to the 13 year old Rome. He finds himself extremely restless in school. He is loosing his control over it. Next as he visits home he takes out all his foreworks to lighten his mood and also as his need to be a rebel kept on growing like a flower blooming. He went out and thought to fire them up but soon something mind boggling happened that changed his life for ever. His heat starts once more. But what is it all about? Is he a normal boy?
Slowly with the flow of the story that is kept fast, intriguing and on the edge we get to know why Rome experienced it. I mean he is the one
who as a fire dragon with Clay going to fight for the existence of the Earth realm! It follows the exploits of two middle-school boys, Rome Lockheed and Julian Rider, as they transition from normal kids into epic warriors.
Rome has forgotten everything as he is under a spell that hides his truest form under the skin of a human.
Together, they perform an ancient pact which bonds their lives and souls forever. Now under the guidance of an eccentric, local librarian, Mr. Jones, the two learn of an impending invasion from an archaic evil desperate to invade from the other side of The Void. Will they be able to transform at the right time?
Who is this evil? What is its motive towards the civillisation ? As these questions start to line up we see how things start to take its shape. I really enjoyed this middle school fantasy read. It definitely took me some time to devor the story slowly enjoying each phase. Author has done great job formulating a magical world with his imagination. Eagerly waiting to read the next part.
