We read different books but few have the ability to leave a mark behind in our heart's once they end.
Fatima Al Yousuf's book "Descendants of Zayed" is a story of joy, hope, reunion, separation and loss.
Here is Emirati, muslim girl, with a beautiful heart supported by a beautiful family. She grows up with 45 brothers. She dreams of joining the military as a female soldier. When her dreams come true, she is sent for training. I liked her comversations with her father. Later she reunites with her family while her brothers are now sent to war for a month's time. Every emotion touches her while time passes. One of the most difficult times what people go through such situations has been presented to us like a painted canvas of various hues of emotions. Everyone's character is mindfully developed.
Each day till the 29th is like a dairy entry that starts with a beautiful verse of hope. At times it also pains our heart.
A short crisp read yet an atmospheric one. Go for it.
