Like A Stone by Alabhya Pushkarna

I like reading fantasy fictions and watching such movies. Its just a good escape from reality plus it gives us new ideas and possibilities to explore. This book adult blends magic, adventure, and relatable characters, offering escapism while exploring themes of identity, courage, and growth.

Its again a debut work with a fresh, intriguing story, written in simple language, perfect for beginners seeking an engaging and enjoyable read.
So, the story basically revolves around
Gaurish, a 24-year-old from Delhi. He works in the finance commerce sector but feels unhappy with the work culture and strained relations with his manager. Amid personal loss, he discovers a magical stone that lets him transform into any animal. Initially thrilling, the question arises later, does this unique gift comes with a heavy price?

As an animal lover, I found this story about a magical stone transforming people into animals, truly fascinating.
This story again feels relatable as it has present day contemporary backdrop reflects the struggles of corporate life, where inner satisfaction is often missing. Modern-day elements like social media make the story felt like I am reading about a friend.
Gaurish’s bond with his mother, felt just like my relationship with my ma, who guides me everyday. Moreover, The stone’s secrets, unveiled through 'mystic rthymic verses', give the story such a movie-like intensity.
As the story unfolded, each twist made it more interesting like :

How the stone activates, first metamorphosis, the stone's appearance, its origin and purpose.
I mean a shapeshifter stone! Pretty mysterious to even imagine right!
The fun part was not for a single moment I was able to guess what was coming next, and the final page oh my god left me spellbound, what a turn, and kind of gave me a heart attack thinking about the cycle it is gonna start! The story was kept short, interesting and crisp! Definitely recommend this book to everyone whoever enjoys fantasy fictions. However, the cover doesn’t do justice to the magic inside. Revamping the cover to match the brilliance of your story is truly needed! Its available on amazon.
