Struggling to love yourself is common. After reading her first book few months back -“The Intentional Being” which explains how intention is not enough but we got to put up action, I was excited to explore Damini Grover’s latest book, “Time to Come Home”, about self-love.
Damini Grover, a Counselling Psychologist, brings over ten years of experience in this book, thus focusing on understanding and integrating self-love in our daily lives for lasting happiness.
While many books address self-love, I would say her work is clear and accessible. She provides research-backed insights, and felt very good reading them and acquiring knowledge that emphasizing how childhood experiences shape self-worth and encouraging self-awareness to foster healthier relationships.
I have so many lines in this book to felt meaningful and resonated to contemplating.
There are 10 chapters across 280 pages, each divided into a couple of sub-chapters, that point out how to cultivate self-love and that it starts with self-respect and acceptance, which can be learned. The chapters step by step explains that self-criticism often comes from early beliefs.
Her insights reminded me of Dr. Gabor Maté’s work on authenticity. I follow his interviews and currently reading one of his works too. This is why I really liked this book as well as I was able to correlate.
It highlights sleep, nutrition, and exercise as essential for mental well-being. Her journaling prompts also foster mindfulness and clarity, guiding readers like us toward self-care and mental wellness.
Altogether, this is such an impactful book though everything is kept to the point and easy to understand and apply. Moreover the chapters are not overloaded with too many scientist notions that may come as arduous for new readers. The writing is clear and concise.
I highly recommend it for anyone seeking self-love. Available on Amazon and bookstores. My rating is 4.5/5 🌻
