Devi by Nag Mani ( Horror fiction book review )

This is a horror based fiction book. I love horror movies , movies are more visually stimulating in such scenarios which add to more fun of spooky situations .This book has the backdrop of interior Bihar. The folklores told were interesting creating good mysterious background with the descriptive writing of the places so as such the imagonation was made easy. The story is written based as contemporary that is based in present time so again the fiction connect to young readers more. Timing of unfolding suspense was nice effectively . Character development was nice. Narration actually needs mention , horror stories need a lot of effort to keep readers interested by creating an aura of deep suspense and mystery and Nag Mani Sir has done a beautiful job in that. Word choice were good. If you read it late at night you will find it more enjoyable. Enthralling read with goosebump creating moments. Short chapters and such made it an easy read. Cover is really spooky and scary. I used to read a...

Small days and nights by Tishani Doshi ( Book Review )

It is nice story about Grace whose roots belong to interculture of Italy and India as her father is Italian and mother is Indian. The cover is really pretty as silhouette of grace and the pet dogs . Priced at 299/- She visits Madras as she receives the news of her death leaving her huge property , a mansion on the bank of Bay of Bengal with a sister who has downs syndrome . Now she manages a totally different life routine here coming from America . With Turmoils of emotions inside her heart and still handling her new environment is described beautifully . I liked the humorous situations with the dogs , then the har situations with her sister who has down's syndrome how Grace handles these things together along with her own mental health questioning her own life at times .The words used are really nice and will touch your heart. At some places the story felt but dragging again it caught its breezy pace. You will be able to relate to her in many ways as myriad of emotions will arise ...

They Go to sleep - By Saugata Chakraborty - Book Review

Cover is very enigmatic , catches readers interest in very first impression with dark half lit old narrow lanes of classic calcutta , seeping mystery with the unique title . Pages - 102 Author - Saugata Chakraborty Publisher - Notion press Price - 179/- There are 12 short stories , an anthology of tales that are based on mystery, suspense , crime thrillers and little horror . Price I felt is very reasonable and you get to read diferrent works. Quick read with good pace , no irrelevant conversations are things included , that helped an impatient reader like me keep interested . It proved to be a page turner . I have still one two stories left but most stories are good. The first one is based on the title itself with a crime thriller plot with backdrops of Goa and Calcutta dealing with drug dealing. The story with A watch and time was really interesting too. Narration of author is quite good , he keeps the story unfold slowly . Simple language is used but has creativeness and he has play...
