After a long while, I picked up this book to take a break from the genres I usually read. The cover is so eye-catching , dark and spooky ! There are total 10 short stories in it . In part one , the five stories are based on real incidents from author's own life . When she was a little girl, with her parents, she used to live in Shimla, a place with its  temperate climate that grows more gloomy with the arrival of winters  and snow wraps up  the hilly location along with the dense forests of pine and oak trees. As the place grows less crowded, days and night...

Think Design Live: How to Unblock Your Mind and Live Your Dreams by Pialee Mukherjee

THINK DESIGN LIVE: How to Unblock Your Mind and Live Your Dreams by  Pialee Mukherjee I have read several self-help books. This book definitely will get added to one of my good reads of 2020 for its a psychology based inspiring self help book in which the topics are added in a very arranged point wise and non-dragging manner.  There are ten chapters through which author has metaphorically told that like a seed which gets planted inside soil , with proper care and nurturing it blooms for a purpose , similarly in our mind thoughts act the same way  and result is our success.  It tells the need for real introspection of one's different arenas of life. With each question, potential situations  are described with stories of eminent people whose actions had value for the whole community. Further, author has included the piano technique where research shows by taking up new thoughts and habits brain rewires and gray...

The Stranger's Bedroom by Bijoy Munshi

▪️The Strangers Bedroom revolves around  young working generation now a days , all will find the situation relatable l. It's a romance drama plot with three to four characters mainly . Ravish is intrigued by a bold courageous girl who is reading a particular book and that book has a big deal in this story. But he gets into an accidental clash and has a memory lapse . But then as he tries to retrieve those , you will get to know who is Neha , how is everything related to Kriti , how's this book connect them all and then their is Trisha too. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ▪️Narration was gripping which  kept me interested till the last page but the plot is not much strong or unique .I expected more twists and  thrill from the catchy  title .  ⁣ You may buy this book here : https://amzn.to/3bTwMwW ⁣ ⁣ ▪️The two timelines were nice kept separated rising no confusion. I liked the font , big and easy for the eyes. Then the book does have a message that many run into ca...

A Girl Behind Burqa by Jimil Patel

The title does tell us about its about a girl who wears burqa. But it's way more than that. Is Nazia just a normal Muslim girl who wears veil for her beliefs or what horrendous memories she hides under it ? Is Aditya just a kind-hearted boy or his mind is bursting out of tightening situations in his life ?  Fiction it is , but actually based on few very relatable things that is in the limelight nowadays like acid attacks , rapes , violence , societal pressure leading to suicidal thoughts and actions , Gender stereotypes , depression and shame . Story starts with a beautiful message that love is for the soul which goes beyond someone's physical looks and faith in which they are born .  The religious fanaticism has been touched too by weaving the plot with an inter religious based relationship. All women go through some kind of harassment or abuse sometime or the other in their lives. Even men also do . But few inhuman crimes damage their psychology an...

Afsaane - A Collection of Short Stories

Afsaane is a collection of short stories. There are a total of eleven tales, each revolving around the depth of human relations  and the complexity of human affairs.  Each tale is anywhere between 4 and 20 pages long. The cover is unique and beautiful. Actually, it is related to the very first story in a sense, which speaks about a couple's life when memories are the only things left for them to cherish! It is hard for them to get separated even though sometimes, few situations lead to inevitable consequences. But love remains even after that. It lingers in the depth of our hearts. I liked this story! The tea-stall under our apartment was playing a mashup of olden songs, while I was reading this story, and so... yeah, the last line of this story did touch me deeply. It in a quiet, subtle way, it conveyed a lot within a few words.  There are more stories like that... which talk about our st...

Seven Sundays: One Life, Two Journeys, Seven Failures by Mr.Shouvik Banerjee

This is a nice book . Through a fiction it provides us tips to improve our mindset and thoughts. Alok is in his forties. It is stack of failures that look upon him now. He left his job thinking his start up will grow but it failed. Soon his wife Sheila with their kid Nemo leaves. All these takes a big toll on Alok.  Amidst all this depression a stranger visits him out of the blue. Introduces him as Brigesh his college mate whom  Alok cannot even remember of. But soon he asks Alok to play a game where he tells him a story of a ficticious fantasy land with a man named amal . He continues it when he visits Alok every Sunday and asks Alok to draw conclusion after each session. The story has different chapters .  Each with different aims and purpose for readers. I liked how Amal's life and Alok's changing ways were analogous . All of them conclude to a arranged summery .  All these sessions lead to some life changing incidents . Very thoughtful book that...
